Haven't seen it enough to confirm, but fine, I'll accept that THE CC defender has a chance. Assuming your a pkmn with little escape potential, good fucking luck.Įdit: some people claim slowbro is a decent counter. And even if you pull it off? Well, you have a 70 second cooldown on the button they've only got 7.5 on a whiffed hex. OVERCOMPENSATION, mind you.Īnd if your answer is "masterful prediction and frame perfect timing with escape button," that's just stupid. The funny thing is, Gengar's ult really doesn't seem all that especially threatening, so it's as if they gave gengar an ult with virtually no cooldown as compensation for having an underwhelming "real" ult. He just teleports around you, borderline invulnerable, until your dead. The combo doing silly levels of damage is one thing, but the ABSOLUTE LACK OF COUNTERPLAY is what truly breaks gengar.
POKEMON UNITE GENGAR FULL
As a snorlax main, I just sigh everytime I see gengar on the enemy team, because it means I will ALWAYS get hex combo'd to death in 3 seconds from full life - even when on point. Gengar has virtually no weak matchups, except for maybe blastoise, who is perhaps bar none the most overtuned mon right now.

Just like you can counter pikachu with as much effort as it takes to learn him. Gengar is a menace, but can be countered and nullified if you put in as much effort to counter him as you would to learn him.
POKEMON UNITE GENGAR HOW TO
Im not at all angry with anyone who thinks he's broken, I would just suggest figuring out how to counter him, and doing that. He can be better than pikachu ever will be, and lets be honest, if you can play pikachu (or any other novice) to the best of his abilities or gengar (or any other experts) to the best of his abilities, your going to play the one who was designed to just be better, because why not? It takes skill to learn him, but once you do, it pays off, much more than just picking up a starter 'mon.Īs stated before, this post is not attacking anyone, this is simply stating why I believe he is not broken, he is just a very very good pokemon, there will always be a "best pokemon", and when played right, people are going to call it broken, it's inevitable. Gengar was made to be the way he is, and if you scroll down through this subreddit you'll see countless videos of people killing gengar with ease in the background, he can be killed, and people are getting better at it, he's not broken, he's just good. Anyone can pick up a guide (or not) and use charizard fine, but even with a guide gengar takes practice, it takes effort, and yes, he does deal an incredible amount of damage, but he has so many counters as well, just to name a few: Gardevoir can counter him like nothing else, Talonflames unite move can pretty much one shot, absol can destroy him, (while taking a lot of damage himself) Or anyone else who can stop his hexing, including himself To play gengar effectively you either need to figure him out yourself or use a guide, and you might be thinking, "well anyone can just look up a guide and then use him perfectly" Which is a decent point, heres the problem though: No, you can't. He took skill and effort to learn, unlike your novice level pokemon that you can just spam attack and basically be fine. Granted, he is easier to play than **some** other expert level pokemon, but to play him effectively you need to have the right items, moves, and strategies, otherwise he's simply useless, When i first got gengar I thought he was useless because i couldnt just spam my attacks and hope for the best, he's too fragile for that. Fun fact: Those are all expert level pokemon, they take skill to learn, and they take skill to counter, anyone can pick up pikachu and play him fine, you may play him better than others, but anyone can pick him up easily. If you asked most people playing this game if gengar, absol, and zeraora were broke, most would say yes. He isn't just your average pikachu, he isn't your average charizard, he's an expert level 'mon, and theres a reason for that. That's why gengar ISNT broken, he was designed to be like this, why? you might ask, because he's *expert* difficulty. gengar's tag line is literally "*ambush the competition as you become their worst nightmare*"

In order for something to be broken it has to not work like it's supposed to, that's the definition of broken, and in gaming, broken means it doesn't function the way it was intended to and is much better. I'm open to other opinions if you disagree.įor everyone saying gengar is broken, I'm talking to you. Before i begin, i would like to say, I'm not mad at anyone who thinks this, I just disagree and am here to offer my opinion as to why.
